Tomorrow we will be starting the first of the last two weeks before winter break. Students seem to get restless at this time, but it is crucial that they focus and buckle down to get their work done.
At Neal we have an awesome incentive to help keep grades up and behaviors at bay, Exercise Your Attitude! On December 19th, during specials periods student will be able to use inflatable obstacle courses and the inflatable pony-hoppers for races. There are some qualifications to get there. 0 Detentions 0 In School Suspension 0 Out of School Suspensions No D's or F's.
We are also starting AIMSWeb Testing during our EPIC Period tomorrow. For those parents who came to conferences or to Parent Night for Student Success, saw how important those test are. While they have no impact on your students academic grades here at NEAL, AIMSWeb is how we place our students in EPIC classes getting them the extra help they need as well as how we know which subject areas they are growing in.
I am looking forward to the next two weeks. I have alot planned as far as activities and games that will help students apply the concepts they will be learning. Last week was a review week of concepts they have previously learned, but will be applying to the concepts this week.
We will be starting Expressions with Variables this week. Please keep up with your student and support them, because students get a bit worried when our friend "x" shows up!
Finally, I had a great time with the CORE 2 class at our Pizza Party on Friday. I have a homework competition between my three classes and my 2nd Core won! They voted and chose on a Pizza Party! Keep encouraging your kids to turn in their homework; some students are doing great, while my 3rd Core is still struggling to turn in their homework!
